My Christmas Diary

It's been a fun season, lots of parties, outings and dinners.
My holiday season started with work, we had the most interesting client(s) event towards the end of the year 2013 and because it was December it was more fun than work – quite understandable right?

Closing off the work year two weeks before 2014, the festive activities had to start immediately :)

My friend (Isi) and I had planned a long list of activities - slumber party, dinner dates, movie nights, club nights, jet skiing, etc for the holidays and we had great fun doing it all.

Truly a memorable close to 2013…

Things I Love: Christmas Fest

I love any festive season, Christmas especially. Aside the chicken, champagne and cupcakes there are activities that make me want the season to last forever. But like they say, nothing lasts forever, so enjoy it while it lasts.

Here are some of the things I love about Xmas..

- The fact that it's just Christmas and it's all festive and Chrismas-sy (if you get) plus the parties! Oh the parties.

- I mentioned the parties above but the fact is I never really attend parties during Christmas or any time like that. I'd rather sit at home with a friend - watch movies, nibble on sweets, cocktails and wines. But hey, it's all about those loved ones yeah?

- I love the idea of getting that 'perfect gift' for that friend but actually get something 'small' but meaningful to me.

- The Ah-amazing meals!! Hahaa not really, just the fact that I have to imagine the best food this period. Afterall it's Christmas and January is for losing the fat.

- OK. Not like I don't do this half of my time on a daily basis, but this period helps me sit back, take a thorough look at my blog (after browsing through my fav. ones over 24hrs) before deciding new changes to make.

- Party with friends!! Party like it's the last day of 2013 (..duh?)
- I really appreciate the fact that everybody is happy - one way or the other, this season makes us all happy.

- Make one resolution (simple and resolute but covers every other sphere) for the new year.

- Hope for the best in the new year.

- While hoping, I get excited for the fear that grows (literally) in me for the new year. Like, how the next 365 days will be perfect, inspiring and memorable for all - family, friends, you know...what!?

Anyways, visualize and see it come to life..it's all in the head.

At Bruce Onobrakpeya's First Solo Exhibition in 7years

Me digesting the beautiful art of Bruce Onobrakpeya

I don't quite attend Temple Muse events - fashion sale, art exhibition and lots like that, but one I couldn't afford to miss was Bruce Onobrakpeya's first solo exhibition in 7years... I mean, who would? Oh well..

It's no joke the man is genius and another to see his great works was unavoidable. So, on Saturday 30th November (after battling so hard with what to wear) I set out - with excitement - to go meet the man of greatness - in art that is.

Creative Instinct: Best of F/W 2013 Campaigns - Miu Miu, Kenzo, Max Mara, Givenchy and More!

This is beyond words; love is just too plain simple to explain how I feel about these campaigns. Each campaign here shares clear details about the season, the trend being focused on by each designer and the creative details inculcated by the directors… frankly, the level of creativity in such cases as this impresses me a lot. I shiver, and begin to wonder how they sit, ponder and come to conclusion about the details, directions and execution of these campaigns. Kudos to all involved!
As mentioned in my several tweets about these campaigns, I don’t have a favourite but of all I’ve seen the past two to three weeks, these few have taken a huge space in my heart and I’ll love them for a long while.

Pictures of my top picks this season include;

SPECIAL : Pyramid of Hope - Opral Mason Benson

Excerpt from my special profile on Opral Benson in October Issue of MANIA Magazine...

Often described as sensational for her enchanting elegance and superlative trendiness, cultural icon and philanthropist, Opral Mason Benson remains an epitome of African beauty and engaging intellect. Adeola Ojedokun takes a trip down memory lane of this woman of courage.

Born on February 7, 1935 at Mason Hill, Arthington - Northwest Monrovia, Liberia to Honourable Johnson Boto Mason and Lilly Melissa Mason they (her parents and grandparents elected to name her Opal (a bluish precious stone with iridescent reflections). They also called her Amanda, meaning “worthy of love”, but she did not like the name Opal for interesting reasons and though her parents thought the name was lovelyshe didn’t. she neither saw herself as precious nor as hard as a stone, so she began to write Opral on her school notebooks and while it took time she eventually succeeded in imposing the name change.

Pick of the Day : Square Rainbow Earrings

I love these square rainbow earrings. A friend gave them to me over the weekend, she gave me a gist about them; "glass windows from Brazil are recycled and coloured to make small glass earrings with a full-spectrum punch like these ones".
Cost: $12
