Kate Winslet Covers November US Vogue in Duro Olowu Metallic Cape

First, I have to point out the 'fakeness' (like fashion non-enthusiasts say) of this cover; I mean, common! This is no good to the beautiful Kate. She's one of the few Hollywood women I adore when it comes to beauty and keeping it real.

Well, fashion especially Vogue fashion is about portraying the best - what should be and not exactly the way it is.

Therefore away from that, the cover is .... beautiful! Beautiful is the word I use for extraordinary, different, more than pretty or sweet. It's more for things that appear simple, natural and refreshing. This cover is all of these and many more.

Photographed by (who else?) Mario Testino, pregnant Kate wears a Donna Karan black jersey dress that accentuated her curves perfectly and seals the look with a Duro Olowu shimmering violet metallic silk-jackard cape with free flowing locks and rose coloured lips...bam!

More photos after cut.

Journey Through the September Issue Part 2

Continuing from my last read - campaigns and all, I resumed reading on the contributors page featuring, Jonathan Van Meter, John Holagate and Virgina Smith who talked about their experience on pairing designers and their muse for an editorial photo shoot, Irish writer and poet Colm Toibin, Hamish Bowles, etc

On 'up front' is the story of a beloved dog, Rose lost over 15years ago...quite an interesting story which I could not stop reading till the end

"Stop as any rabbit, she was all over white with one ginger war, a gingered spot between her shoulder blades. White dogs are slow to show their age"

Throughout its 120-year history, Vogue has been creating arresting images intended to make the reader's eye stop. And with a new book 'The Editor's Eye' which is a collection of all of Vogue's covers, fashion shoots,  etc it's an opportunity to explore the Vogue archive.

FLASH
A selection of top personalities, activities, books, and places that seem to be of important impact on the edition.

Life with Andre
This section is one of my favourite sections of US Vogue, it's also a top reason I'd get a copy of any edition...clearly speaking or in simple terms reading, listening or just watching Andre Leon Tally (my Spirit Animal) is the most thrilling experience I'd give up any thing for. Andre is more than experienced, he's one of the most important, conversant and respected personalities in the entire fashion and style world worldwide. His section in  the magazine, Life with Andre, he reviews collections, people, happenings amongst other things, comparing, contrasting and melding the past, the present and the future in relation with the unpredictable and abstract. In this issue, Andre goes back in time into the lives of fashion's notably top designers; Zac Posen, Prabal Gurung, Vera Wang, Ralph Lauren, Yohji Yamamoto and Marc Jacobs- one of the most influential and prophetic designers both for his own label and for Louis Vuitton. These are designers who after careful studying and understudying of the industry they started their own labels and so far successes within all the challenges and hardworking.
Vera Wang's former boss thinks "fashion should continue to be inspiring, relevant and celebrate the individual spirit. It will always be important for designers to have unique voices and remain true to themselves." - Ralph Lauren
While Marc Jacobs hopes fashion's future leans heavily toward "a continued promotion of self-expression. More freedom, no boundaries - individuality and the celebration of dreams" I strongly agree with him on this.

Journey Through The September Issue, Part 1

I can't quite explain the top high level if adrenalin that flowed through me before I got a copy of my Vogue September issue. First I was super excited of being one of the lucky ones that'll read this special edition but then came the feeling that I might not be lucky after all as the store had  just 2 copies left. I couldn't hold the terror within me, the thought of not getting a copy kept me awake all night and in the morning of the next day my first call was to my friend Mareejay with whom  I had discussed how she should endeavor to get to the store as early as possible to get the last two copies..,I was excited when she informed me se was already on her way to the store by 9:30am. Seriously nothing else could get Mareejay or anyone to the bookstore in Lekki on a Tuesday morning but Vogue.

Her call came in while I was at the office around 10:15 while I was prepping for a photo shoot for the next edition, she got the last two copies!!!

Again, I couldn't believe my reaction when I got my copy I was literally shivering...sincerely I was.  I did a quick flip through and instantly thought I needed at least a week vacation to read no not just read devour this master piece. But there's just a lot yet undone and clients to satisfy, so no vacation for me at least for now. I concluded I'd spend the nights reading which should even help me pay more attention. I was surprised when I noticed I hadn't even opened past the first three ad campaign pages of the magazine, I felt unhappy. I needed my time, no special time was going be enough so somehow I needed to get to it..and come the following week- which makes a week and five days later after staring at it everyday on the table beside my bed I patiently indulged in this all time master piece. And one page at a time I journeyed through....

Yes the September issue is the biggest of the year and everyone should be a part of it. So it didn't surprise me when I encountered all major brands' ad campaigns on pages- brands who I think rarely run ads in print are all in this issue ; Donna Karan, Oscar de la Renta, DVF, DKNY,LongChamp, tibi, Vionnet Paristo the regulars- Chanel, Louis Vuityon, Valentino, Vera Wang, Ralph Lauren, etc taking numerous spreads....that's what I call being a part of the masterpiece, no brand should miss out on such.

It would be too plain to say Anna Wintour's Editor's Letter is great, it's a tribute to all the great minds who contribute to every edition through the years, from the fashion editors, beauty editors, features writer and editors, makeup artists, hair stylists and models, Anna
praised them all and I liked that.

The September Issue!!! Lady Gaga in Marc Jacobs for Vogue US 120th Anniversary Issue

Photographer:
Mert & Marcus
Styling:

I am not quite a fan of Lady Gaga but this cover is riding straight through the highest part of my head (if you know what I mean). I'm loving it, I love it!!
Lady Gaga, who covers the anniversary (120 years of style) issue of Vogue posing in a chic Marc Jacobs frock, is also photographed nude for one of the inside pictures. She only has a bright magenta hat on.

Isn't it amazing?

In the interview, Lady Gaga spoke on her new signature scent: “The fragrance is called Fame. It must be black. It must be enticing. You must want to lick and touch and feel it, but the look of it must terrify you.”

Lady Gaga on the reinvention of the meat dress for her tour: “We were talking about putting the show together and I said, OK, what if I was someone’s grandma and I was going to a concert tonight. How would I know that it was a Gaga show? And we all just sort of looked at each other and said,‘The meat dress.’”

Lady Gaga on her music making approach: “I don’t really make records for people to listen to and go, ‘Wow, she’s a genius’. I’d really like you to order a drink, maybe kiss the person you came with that evening, or rediscover something about your past that makes you feel even more brave.”

912 pages of Fall fashion, collection reviews, profiles on model, designers, editor and Life with Andre....oh wow!
I cannot wait to get a copy of this issue!!

All About EMMA

G One of my favourite actresses and up-coming star of “The Amazing Spider-Man” film, Emma Stone, covers the July edition of Vogue US wearing Nina Ricci. It can't be argued, Emma has been all over the red carpet, brand endorsements and magazine editorials for couple of months now and that definitely makes her deserving of a Vogue cover. Emma Stone graces the cover of American Vogue wearing a dazzling Nina Pucci design and a mix of boyish and ultra-feminine looks in the accompanying shoot. In the profile, Nathan Heller encounters the actress at the cusp of a pivotal transformation in her young career, after earning her reputation as Hollywood’s go-to girl for strong, spunky characters bridging unreconciled worlds, going brunette for her Superbad audition and making her move from comedy to The Help. The 23-year-old actress was photographed by Mario Testino and styled by Tonne Goodman.

Team USA! Serena Williams, Ryan Lochte and Hope Solo go Shirtless for US Vogue June 2012

I am absolutely loving this cover - it's the Olympics y'all!
Okay, trying to keep calm now, but the cover looks amazing - It features soccer star Hope Solo, swimmer Ryan Lochte, and tennis champ Serena Williams. Oh and the Karlie Kloss fashion editorial is fantastic! Pictured inside is track and field star Ashton Eaton and another shirtless pic of Ryan with model Karlie Kloss for the Annie Leibovitz-shot fashion spread
Not to say too much, I'll go get a copy - say in few days when it arrives here - then return to more opinion. Till then, Love, Kisses and Chanel

Scarlett Johansson for US Vogue May 2012

I'm actually getting bored of seeing same faces on the cover but Scarlet does look real good on this cover...Her skin looks amazing!
