"More Material" by Duro Olowu

Duro Olowu launched his second group show and pop-up boutique recently at Salon 94 Bowery…

Titled “More Materials,” the installation is a continuation of the work he started back in February 2012 with his first pop-up shop and exhibit during New York Fashion Week, an eye-catching collection of objet trouvĂ©s from the designer’s personal archive. “You grow, and like most things, you find more things, you discover more things. But what is really relevant now is just this concept of fashion, art, and objects, and really showing how women are perceived,” he says. “And how they perceive themselves.”

The designer Duro Olowu photographed in front of an installation in “More Material,” a new art show he curated at Salon 94 Bowery.

Kate Winslet Covers November US Vogue in Duro Olowu Metallic Cape

First, I have to point out the 'fakeness' (like fashion non-enthusiasts say) of this cover; I mean, common! This is no good to the beautiful Kate. She's one of the few Hollywood women I adore when it comes to beauty and keeping it real.

Well, fashion especially Vogue fashion is about portraying the best - what should be and not exactly the way it is.

Therefore away from that, the cover is .... beautiful! Beautiful is the word I use for extraordinary, different, more than pretty or sweet. It's more for things that appear simple, natural and refreshing. This cover is all of these and many more.

Photographed by (who else?) Mario Testino, pregnant Kate wears a Donna Karan black jersey dress that accentuated her curves perfectly and seals the look with a Duro Olowu shimmering violet metallic silk-jackard cape with free flowing locks and rose coloured lips...bam!

More photos after cut.

FLOTUS looks colourful beatiful in this Duro Olowu dress. It just soothes her skin tone perfectly (something I consider important) And those sandals? They fit perfectly, I'm loving it all on her.

Iris Apfel x Duro Olowu = Journey to the Zoo!

The 91-Year-Old Style Doyenne Shares Life Lessons with the Designer at the Zoo

In a new mini-film on Nowness.com, style icon, Iris Apfel and designer Duro Olowu spend the day at the zoo discussing everything from religion and sex and to why she thinks animals are much better than people.

When Iris Apfel first met Duro Olowu in 2005, she was decked out in Mickey Mouse pajamas and laden with jewelry, and he had just bagged the award for New Designer of the Year at the British Fashion Awards. The long-standing friends recently met up for a stroll through London Zoo, an encounter filmed by Leigh Johnson.

Dating Game - Duro Olowu, London Fashion Week 2013

This is not one of those situations where I say something good because it sounds good. No,not at all... It is for a fact one of those moments where you see something you've always imagined in your head but haven't had the chance or clear understanding of how to put it down in words - well, maybe the exact words have been traded for something else; distractions of course.

He needs no introduction as he remains a regular on here. I'm always talking/sharing about him one point or the other - his collaborations  his fun and creative lookbooks and lots more.
Duro Olowu is amazing and he represents his unique style very well in every collection he creates. He says fun, girly, sexy  as well as grown, decisive and confident all at once. He knows how to properly illustrates his designs while leaving little or nothing out. I mean, his use of prints is fantastic and the way he pairs prints and patterns up is tot-amazing.
