How High can you Fly?

Sometimes ago while thinking about, Ludacris' song - 'How low can you go?' a thought flashed through my mind, and I was like okay, 'how high can you go - fly, jump, aspire in life?'

As often said, attitude determines altitude. How good or bad your attitude determines how far - good/bad you'll go in life... First all, what's your attitude?

After careful thinking, I came up with few deductions...

Life and its Bubbles!

Earlier today while relaxing on my bed facing my writing desk I noticed a new desktop I bought recently, just sitting by the side. The desktop still wrapped in bubble nylon somehow caught my attention and by some magical effect or another couldn't stop my gazing at it; after careful study of the nylon bubbles (which happens to be one of my favorite things – busting nylon bubbles that is) I realized there’s one yet undone, one round, unruffled nylon bubble yet to be busted….yay!  I didn't touch it though.

On an ordinary day I’d get up to bust the last bubble but I paused, looked at it again, there and then a though flashed through my mind “that’s exactly how life and success is”, what you ask?

Well, the truth is that somehow perhaps patience or maturity I observed the only left bubble which stood out of all the others but also could have gone unnoticed … Therefore, often times in life and our career we need to take a pause, look deeply at the situation of things. And there you’ll see that one part of you or your job, that stand out trait you need to work on even more to establish to greatness…work on that one thing/trait/skill and see yourself stand out amongst all simply because it’s your discovery, it’s your strength.

Yes! That’s life.

It’s all about the tiny little things that teach us the greatest lesson.

H.O.N.O.U.R.A.B.L.E By Bobo Omotayo

A year ago, Bobo Omotayo introduced the world to the high energy people of Lagos through his collection of short observations of everyday Lagos life.


A year later, he's back but this time without his Lagos socialite fila - he has moved on from that. Bobo has traded in his Ray Bans for a try at affairs of a party political nature.


It is no longer cool to be a Lagosian. He has traded Lagos for his hometown, Ijebu Ode.

A few things have changed since we last encountered Bobo Omotayo. His bank account manager is somewhat more attentive to him, not on account of his bank balance, but apparently because his pages once put a smile on her face; inner city kids now ask to use his book as source thesis for their dissertation; Stanford undergrads seek his views of Lagos life and what it says about the emerging Africa; repats swear that London Life, Lagos Living made their transition to Lagos a little more bearable; the literati lambast him for upending the beloved English language and the blogosphere consider him a 'confused accent'. What a difference a year makes!

So much has changed, yet, some things have remained the same. Bobo has kept his abiding desire to tell stories. He still longs to tell tales that cheer and tickle - in his own unique and affecting manner. Bobo retains his abiding style of collaborating with people of extraordinary creative ability.

Bobo Omotayo's new work is a satirical take on the realities of the Nigerian political scene. It is one man's reflections on the idiosyncrasies of Nigeria's political space - a deep stab at some of the unique issues that continue to plague our development as a modern political environment.

When Losing It ....

There's a period of trial, of fatigue, depression..a time or season where it all seems stagnant and plain same. Yes, it happens to us all, even the toughest and most successful people. But hey, that's the time to try harder, see better and even reason more. While it can be super difficult at this time - oh I've been there too, I believe strongly in the saying "this too will pass".  

So what to do? Gather inner strength by listening or reading inspirational words, books, sermons, messages, speakers, etc that inspire you. I promise, you will feel refreshed. 

When refreshed, return to those dreams, that to-do-list, planner, wish list or what have you...read, think and digest those words and dreams again, then re-structure. Build stronger forces, more definite strategies or ideas you can come up with ...see? It's all good again.

Follow through from there and see your dreams come to reality. 

Always remember, "wining is all about trying again and again till you're there"

A word on Life Purpose

Be You, Be True, Be Strong, So many people are looking for it: Big Life Purpose. Becoming YOU is your purpose. You are the very purpose of your existence. Realizing what lights your and floats your boat – that’s your life purpose. What else could it be? If it gives you true joy(not the seemingly happy high that is fleeting, but the reliable, always-there kind of satisfaction) to rock that guitar, to make people laugh, to discover the world, to make things a little more beautiful wherever you go, to feed, to stir it up, to clean it up, to excute the plan, to bank the cash, to be a compassionate citizen, to explore nonstop, or purely to seek pleasure … then, that’s your life purpose! Your life purpose is what you say it is. Who could tell you otherwise?
