"Bicycle Thieves" - The Vlisco Jenz Collection by Kinabuti

Loosely Japanese shapes are an undercurrent to the season that recurred at the LFDW shows. Kinabuti’s ‘Bicycle Thieves’, a collection inspired by the simplicity of the countryside, rustic landscapes, rainbows, lushness of green vegetation, les beaux jours and nature in all its unbridled splendor featured lots of wrap-overs, high-crow necklines, waist-clinging shirts and fluid kimono pants that is the signature of the brand returns in darkly monochrome shades and influential Vlisco fabrics.

The collection is a melting pot of vibrant colours and choice fabrics, ranging from the deluxe Vlisco range, with a fuse of jerseys, soft linens, and a climax of denim. The pieces in this collection can easily fit into the wardrobe of the upwardly mobile, fashionable, yet suitable for easy going clients as it is a collection built around the versatility of personalities with a charming mix of softness and a blend of edginess.

"In Our Ghetto", A Moving Expo By KINABUTI Moves to Abuja

The exhibition, which has toured Lagos, Port Harcourt, Chennai, Venice, now makes its way to Abuja!

A touring multimedia exhibition by Italian contemporary photographer Massimo Siacca and Swedish film director Marucs Werner Hed with special participation of the kinabuti Girls.

MTN Lagos Fashion and Design Week which aims to be a premiere fashion event is set to bring together media, industry, buyers and consumers to view the current collections of designers in the fashion capital of Lagos, Nigeria. 

This platform aims to cut across geographic and culture barriers to position itself as a business of fashion and design event targeted at showcasing the best of the fashion and design industry, drive the Nigerian fashion economy and ultimately uplift its profile within the industry.

Again this year, Lagos will play host to this fashion and design led event that will feature –

• runway shows featuring new season collections from the best talents in the fashion industry;

• design led exhibitions featuring fashion products and accessories, textiles, furniture design, photography, art installations and architecture;

• workshops that will facilitate knowledge transfer, information exchange and networking opportunities across board

Another major attraction is Lagos itself – a metropolitan island that features an interesting mix of people, cultures which is fast becoming the melting pot for business in Africa. Participants, designers and visitors alike can expect a diversified and interactive platform to maximize their exposure within and beyond their industry circle and open gateways for more business opportunities.

The event, with Mr Ken Saro-Wiwa and Chairman Adewunmi Ogunsanya as its patrons, is set to host notable personalities like Eku Edewor, Genevive Nnaji, Rita Dominic, who
all respectively also star in the movie.

Kinabuti, the fashion line with a passion for social responsibility, is through its social arm: Kinabuti Fashion Initiative (KFI) proud to present The worldwide premiere of its documentary "In Our Ghetto" , a reportage through pictures and interviews articulated by world respected professionals, Marcus Werner Hed and Massimo Sciacca respectively. Set in Port Harcourt, is based on the `making of ‘‘In Our Ghetto” project which was the official launch and first Fashion show of Kinabuti label. It depicts the lives and work of three of the Kinabuti “In Our Ghetto” models, girls who were sourced from the waterside communities with no previous modelling experience but later trained by skilled professionals, as well as their families and other members of the communities who were involved in the production, and their step by step transformations from their challenging backgrounds to actually achieving their dreams.

The objective of this was to bring a message of positivity, untapped potentials and beauty in all conditions.
