Meet My New Muse - Adejoke Taiwo

There’s no accurate definition of how I found out about Adejoke Taiwo, one thing is sure though – she’s a combination of beauty and brain. I adore this lady and her exceptional style of creative, Adejoke exhibits a form of creativity that has very little of no link to particular designers, her designs appear to be self created and based on her brand name àlalá (Dreamer) Adejoke’s designs her perhaps from her own design…how much creative can it be then?

A Brief Biography
Adejoké Taiwo is first generation Canadian with roots in Nigeria. She first became interested in creating clothing at age six- from that age there was no stopping her.

She attended sewing schools and art and photography classes throughout her childhood- later on pursuing post secondary education in Costume for Theatre, and obtaining a Bachelor of Design Fashion.
Having worked as a costume technician and design assistant, Adejoke had many many excess creative juices flowing; àlalá was born.
àlalá dreamer is an outlet for her dreams, and she hopes you will join in on the dreaming.

The Designs

àlalá designs are created for women who are confident, fearless, fashionable, and not afraid to dream. Many of her pieces are inspired by actual people and the state of their lives, the world we live in, and the imaginary world we dream of.
According to Adejoke, àlalá aims to use environmentally friendly materials and natural fibres in their collections where ever possible. Majority of her garments are constructed from bamboo, modal, and cotton (african print) fibres.
Also àlalá collections are created yearly with aim to slow fashion down. They create each piece in house, in Canada from concept to finished product.
