With a new collection receiving impressive reviews on the web and a menswear line set to take flight during LFDW, Weiz Dhurm Franklyn is definitely finding its place within the fashion industry. In this interview, he shares the label’s growth since its participation in the 2012 LFDW Young Designers Award and what to expect at his A/W 2013 collection showing tomorrow at the LFDW ’13.

It’s been a year since you participated in Lagos Fashion and Fashion Wee, I’m guessing a lot has happened within the one year, please share

A lot has really happened. The brand has grown stronger. You know; learning is a continuous process so we keep learning. Weiz Dhurm Franklyn (WDF) has been given the privilege to be the chosen and carefully selected few to showcase its A/W 2013 collection at the 2013 British Council- Style House Files for London Fashion Week which took around February. 


I’ve seen few samples of your upcoming collection, what inspired beautiful pieces as such?

A major inspiration for WDF upcoming collection is the female body form. In this collection, the female form is seen as a work of art, expressed in details while still keeping alive the WDF signature which is 'wearable arts'.

What’s the message of the Weiz Dhurm Franklyn's collection for LFDW?

                        
As a young, up and coming fashion brand, what are the basic creative challenges you’ve faced (aside the standard electricity and labour)?
I'd say a major challenge is the difficulty in achieving a technical idea due to insufficient availability of certain needed materials in the country so one ends up buying such things online.

Who is the Weiz Dhurm Franklyn woman?

A WDF woman is strong, fierce, and fearless. You know, she has the personality of the woman who needs no permission to express her fashion.

Do you have intentions of venturing into menswear at any point?WDF Menswear will debut at this year LFDW. I can't wait for you to see what we have in store!
