"DRESS FOR SUCCESS"

Leila Fowler and Heritage has introduced a brilliant 'give-back' idea called "DRESS FOR SUCCESS".

Like I always say, giving back is all about doing what you believe in, it's a about giving back the way you know to. According to Leila Fowler Dress For Success is a way of joining the fight to empower women across Nigeria. Over the years, researchers and psychologists alike have established a link between how we feel about ourselves and our outward appearance.

This link has been termed enclothed cognition. Enclothed cognition describes the systematic influence that clothes have on the wearer's psychological processes. It involves the co-occurance of two independent factors- the symbolic meaning of the clothes and the physical experience of wearing them. Best selling books like John T. Molloy's Dress For Success highlight how looking good on the outside increases one's over-all sense of self worth or personal value and in turn affects people's reactions and perceptions of us. What wLeila Fowler wants is to make a difference in the lives of disadvantaged women that are or have gone through tragedies and trying times or women that are simply just trying to chart their path in life. Their mission is a simple one, to promote confidence in disadvantaged women one outfit at a time.

In order for them to set up this facility they need the donation of gently used clothes and shoes. Also, they aim to have a "DRESS FOR SUCCESS" location where women can benefit from these charitable donations. By working hand in hand with other women's organizations they are able to come in contact with women in need of donations. Women who have suffered domestic abuse, loss of a spouse, the death of a child, women going on job interviews for the first time and women going through various challenges and are in need of support.
