Call for creative entries, ANA Anthology and other events

ANTHOLOGIES OF POEMS, SHORT STORIES AND TEEN AUTHORS, ANA COVENTION 2009: CALL FOR ENTRIES

The Association of Nigerian Authors, Niger State Branch (the host of the 2009 ANA Convention) has concluded plans to publish two anthologies of poems (Adults and Teen Authors) and a collection of short stories for adults. Contributions are hereby solicited from interested members of ANA and the general public. All contributions must be typed on A4 paper (double spaced), properly edited and initialed with a brief biodata of the writer. Stories must not be more than 3,500 words and two poems of not more than two pages per writer. Forward your contributions to the Chairman, Technical Committee, ANA Niger Secretariat, Abubakar Imam Library Complex, PMB 2842, Minna, Niger State not later than 30th June 2009. Contributions should be on the themes and subjects of choice to the individual writer. they must be properly marked - ENTRY FOR THE 2009 ANA CONVENTION


For the Teen Authors, only twenty contributors are allowed from each branch of ANA featuring one poem each. We advice that state branches should conduct entry or qualification sessions where prospective contributors are engaged in on-the-spot poetry writing for the selection of the best twenty by the branch, which should be sent on or before the expiration of the deadline.

EXHIBITION: NNENNA OKORE “OF EARTH”

Nnenna Okore, the talented and internationally acclaimed sculptor and installation artist, returns to Nigeria to hold her first major art exhibition beginning June 20th, 4pm, at the Goethe Institut in Lagos. After a successful series of exhibitions at galleries in the US and the UK, the Assistant Professor of Art at North Park University, Chicago will bring her vibrant and constructive approach to sculptural and installation art to a keen Nigerian art audience. The exhibition will be opened by her former professor and mentor at the University of Nsukka and famed art sculptor in his own right El Anatsui.
