AWOYE SET FOR PREMIERE

The long-awaited multimillion-naira movie, Awoye is billed to be premiered for crew and cast, some selected theatre icons, journalists and media practitioners on Sunday 26th July, 2009 at the Large Lecture Theatre, University of Ibadan.
The event will be hosted by Dr. Hyginus Ekwuazi, the chairman of the jury that presided over short films at the just concluded 2009 AMAA Awards, while the theatre icon, Prof. Femi Osofisan will be the chairman of the occasion. The event will be packaged by the City People Entertainment in partnership with some other entertainment outfits so as to make it a memorable one.
Awoye is a story that revolves around a once respected judge, Bogunjoko (Baroka), who commits murder and is to be brought to judgment by Jimmy (Taiwo Ibikunle), who this judge had once sentenced to prison over an offence committed by Bolaji (Morin Olaniyi), the son of Bogunjoko while Bolaji, Jimmy and some other friends of theirs were still in the university. The scenario costs Bolaji his life while Bogunjoko is set free.
Awoye is written, produced and directed by the producer of the popular movie, “Ninu Aye”, Seyi Akanbi (a.k.a. Specialborn), co-directed by Bayo Alawiye and Taiwo Oduala, and co-ordinated by Kabirat Kafidipe. Among about sixty season actors and actresses that feature in Awoye include Ayo Mogaji, Rasaq Oyediran (Itu Baroka), Tola Oladokun, Kola Oni, Aisat Kafidipe, Taiwo Ibikunle, Tokunbo Latona, Morin Olaniyi, Tokunbo Oke and Onsachi Peter.

The igboro ti daru crooner, Klever J, Kool B, Soji Best and X-Plus are expected to perform at the premiere of the movie while the event will feature dance, music performance, choreography, artistic performances to entertain the guests and the audience. Other important dignitaries expected at the event include Dele Odule, Adebayo Faleti, Dr. Remi Adedokun and Muyiwa Ademola among others.
An eye for an eye leaves everyone blind summarizes the whole idea in Awoye. It addresses cultism and curtailment among university students. The film x-rayed some social vices like abortion, cohabitation of opposite sex on campus, negative peer influence and their aftermath. We strongly believe this project will go a long way towards re-branding our noble country, Nigeria.
